Diffusion (Condensed Matter)

Diffusion refers to the net movement of a quantity in question (e.g. atoms, ions, or molecules), generally from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.

Diffusion coefficient is the proportionality coefficient between the molar flux due to molecular diffusion and the negative gradient of the species concentration.
