Semiconductors

A semiconductor is a material with electrical conductivity between that of a conductor and an insulator, which can be achieved by the addition of impurities, called “doping”, to its crystal structure.

A semiconductor junction occurs when there are two regions with different doping levels in the same crystal, which is used in many semiconductor devices such as diodes, solar cells, varactors, etc.
