Occupancies

Occupancy describes the distribution of particles among the available states of a physical system. The occupancy of a state specifies the number of particles in that state, and the set of all occupancies characterizes the system’s microscopic configuration. The total occupancy count is, however, bound by the total number of particles in the system.
