Relativistic Effects (Relativistic Kinematics)¶
The Lorentz Transformation predicts some counterintuitive but correct predictions that are time dilation and length contraction.
Time dilation is the difference in elapsed time as measured by two clocks because of a relative velocity. Notably, the elapsed time is smaller in the moving frame as opposed to the stationary frame.
Length contraction is the phenomenon that a moving object’s length is measured to be shorter than its proper (or rest) length, measured in the object’s stationary frame.
