Minima and Maxima (Interference)

The result of wave Interference (Optics) can be a destructive interference (when the resulting amplitude is lower than the original) or a constructive one in the opposite case.

For the resulting wave to reach the minimum or maximum interference amplitude, the phase difference between the waves must match perfectly up to a period (which depends on other parameters of the wave and the setting).
